Mit „Collective oblivion“ erscheint nun eine 3-DVD umfassende Box, die das Treiben der Männer um Kopf Robin Staps auf den Punkt bringt. So beinhaltet die erste DVD die komplette Bandgeschichte und lässt auch ehemalige Mitglieder zu Wort kommen, wenn es um die Anfangstage geht. Die Gründung, das Besetzungskarussell und auch die Visionen, die The Ocean von Anfang an hatten, werden hier dargeboten. Die früheren Videos runden die DVD perfekt, ab. DVD 2 fährt dagegen mit den Shows vom Summer Breeze 2011 sowie einem Konzert im Bikini Test-Club aus dem Jahre 2010 auf. Selbstverständlich stehen hier die Konzeptalben „Anthropocentric“ sowie „Heliocentric“ im Vordergrund, welche der Band auch internationalen Erfolg bescherten. Mit der dritten DVD „Shore to shore“ dringt man nun aber zum Kern der Band vor. Videotagebücher, verfeinert durch Liveauftritte aus Ländern dieser Mammut-Tour, machen The Ocean auch mit „Collective oblivion“ ein weiteres Mal zu einer ganz besonderen Band und einem kreativen Haufen.
