von Rainer Schuster (07.09.2018) Keine Band verkörpert den Wikinger-Spirit auf die gleiche Art und Weise wie Amon Amarth. Die Stockholmer haben dieses Trademark seit ihren frühen Tagen bis heute beibehalten und haben es sowohl auf textlicher Ebene als auch durch ihre Shows immer weiterentwickelt. Aber wie hat die Band diese Schritte machen können und wo hat ihre Geschichte eigentlich angefangen? Die Dokumentation „The pursuit of vikings“ fängt die einzelnen Phasen unterhaltsam ein und zeigt dabei die frühen Jahre unter dem Namen Scum sowie die Tage, in denen eine trinkreiche Party ebenso wichtig war wie die anstehende Show selbst, und die stetige Entwicklung zum globalen Metal-Phänomen. Außerdem kommen zahlreiche Wegbegleiter wie Brian Slager von Metal Blade, ihr ehemaliger Produzent Peter Tägtgren und ihr amtierender Andy Sneap, Doro Pesch, Achim Ostertag (Summer Breeze), Thomas Jensen (Wacken Open Air) u.v.a. zu Wort.
